Focus On... Olive Jewelry and a Giveaway!

I found Olive Jewelry while looking for wire-wrapped rings and earrings. I love the look of wire-wrapping, especially when the metal is oxidized for a gunmetal look! So, when I found Olive Jewelry, I was ecstatic! I love how she pairs masculine materials with feminine gemstones and beads. What kind of mediums do you use and why?

I love sparkles; any bead or stone with a little sparkle, shimmer or bling catches my eye and I want to figure out a way to wear it with me all day long. I love sterling silver for its versatility and the different finishes I can give it. Oxidizing a piece of jewelry can completely change it's feel.

What made you decide to sell on etsy?

A friend told me about etsy a couple years ago and I instantly fell in love. For me it provides a way to passive-aggressively share my jewelry. I tend to clam up when it comes self promotion and naming a price. Etsy takes off a lot of the pressure and helps me get more exposure.

Where do you get your inspiration?

Everywhere... walking through my neighborhood, flipping through magazines, on the MUNI, gem shows, restaurants, literally everywhere.

What is your favorite music to craft by?

Ooh, good one. I'd have to say that my favorite pandora station of the moment is chromeo. It's upbeat, hip hoppy, slightly retro...

If you were an animal, what would you be?

A cat. Or a mouse. But probably a cat. They are so lucky... sleeping whenever they want, being aloof when they want, chasing their own tails when they want...
