Focus On... Wusketeer And A Giveaway!

The inside of my purse is a mess. Papers everywhere - not organized in any way. I keep telling myself that I need to separate the papers into piles and tie them with rubber bands or put them in plastic bags. But then, wouldn't my purse still look messy, just with a bunch of office supplies added in? Then, I had the brilliant idea that if I separated the papers into piles, then put them in pouches, my purse would be organized and pretty. Enter Wusketeer - an etsy shop backed by a fabulous duo from California who create the coolest wallets, pouches, coin purses and clutches. Tell me some basic info about yourself.

We are two architect friends (Waggie and Welly) that met at a firm when the both of us worked in San Francisco. Waggie is now in Fremont and I'm currently in Los Angeles. Other than sewing, I like to ride my bicycle drunk, eat soup, make bento box lunches, pottery, make terriums, pray for Waggie's flexibility and make lists of things I need to do for the day. Waggie likes to poke cats in the eyes, wrestle, cook, iron, starch then fold fitted sheets and then stare at how neat they look in her linen closet.

What kind of mediums do you use and why?

We both adore japanese fabrics, especially Echino by Etsuko Furuya. I also use clay (pottery), although I haven't tried to sell any of my pottery on Etsy so far but I'm always posting it on our blog. Waggie is the craftier of the two of us. She can knit and hand sew like a little elf on crack. She once made these hand stiched set of napkins that were friggin awesome.

What made you decide to sell on etsy?

The third Wusketeer who is no longer a Wusketeer...long story.

Where do you get your inspiration?

A lot of our inspiration comes from things that we see on the internet. Waggie likes to make her own patterns and I just rip them off of her and mass produce them. I love finding patterns in things in nature. Like the pods of trees or the way leaves grow on a stem.

What is your favorite music to craft by?

I mostly listen to my Pandora Bjork station, Cold War Kids, Beruit, Outkast, Ramon Ayala, and any reggae music. Waggie likes to listen to NPR, BBC and Jay-Z.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

I know that Waggie would be a brown cow...mooo. I'd be a fainting goat. They make me laugh so hard I cry. I love fainting goats so much I was actually thinking of starting a fainting goat club or at least joining one. Haha

I love the Gillian Clutch. Waggies favorite is Mudwiggles.
