I'm hoping you all got a chance to see my post yesterday, highlighting my new favorite print, Apples and Honeycomb. This fabulous print, and the moving description, are from the mind of Delia, the incredible artist behind both shops featured here, Kitchen Wizard and Jewish Modern. Delia's aesthetic blends retro imagery with clean lines and saturated colors for a thoroughly modern look. Read on for her interview and a free shipping deal!
Tell me some basic info about yourself.
I'm a designer/illustrator in Texas. I live with a fat cat and a Macbook.
I work almost exclusively digitally, but a few years ago I became fascinated with paper and textiles of all sorts. I occasionally sketch in ink and do some collaging by hand, but it's mostly all electronic because I have a cat that likes leaping into big piles of paper scraps. :p
What made you decide to sell on etsy?
Actually, I have another shop on Etsy that was kind of an accident. Out of curiosity I wanted to see what a shop full of my art would look like if I actually went into selling it one day, and I thought for some reason you had to "activate" the shop before people could see it. So I uploaded a bunch of pics and all of a sudden I had a convo from somebody wanting to buy. Neat! I've been hooked since. :^)

Where do you get your inspiration?
Oooh nature, vintage cookbooks, vibrant folk art. I love experimenting with color and color combinations. I always make myself a promise to try something more subtle next time, but then without fail, I fail at keeping that promise. Sigh.

What is your favorite music to craft by?
When it's cold outside...I'm already by default 20 points happier than when it's hot.

When I'm hungry...I'm cranky. (You don't want me to be hot AND hungry.)

If I could give one gift to everyone I know, it would be...a kind word. For emergencies when you're down and need one.

If I could have coffee with anyone, it would be...right now? Caroline Keating. Her music can only be heard on MySpace right now and I'm dying for her get signed and sell it everywhere. There's this fabulous, adorable video viraling right now of kittens dreaming with her song "Billy Joel" in it, and seriously my brain hasn't recovered from the greatness yet and it's been darn near a week.

If you were an animal, what would you be? A cat, hands down. I'm fabulous and stretching and being fed. And I can wear a costume if need be.
{green and brown butterfly}
What's your favorite piece of your own? My yellow pomegranates. :^) They always make me smile.
